Summer Events


June 19th through July 31st

Our summer reading program for children is easy! All ages of children, even prereaders can participate. Parents are encouraged to read to younger children. Prizes are awarded for reading milestones and weekly incentives are offered through the weeks of the reading program.

John Abrams Animal Magic!

Thursday, June 22nd at 10:30 am

Yes! Ladera Ranch welcomes one of the best magicians and his cute array of magician’s assistants– animals! An interactive show you won’t want to miss. Great for all ages. A LARCS sponsored show with free admission.

One World Rhythm!

Thursday, June 29th at 10:30 am

Complete with music makers, One World Rhythm orchestrates all audience members and teaches beats! Suitable for all ages, a LARCS sponsored show with free admission.

Dinoencounters!

Thursday, July 6th at 10:30 am

Paleontology, geology and dinosaurs, learn all about them. Educational, fun and interactive, this free LARCS sponsored show makes for great conversation.

Bluesman for Children, Brother Yusef!

Thursday, July 13th at 10:30 am

Want to dance? Oh so talented musician Brother Yusef introduces audience of all ages, to the early African American traditions of the Blues. Let’s sing, dance and learn. Great for all ages! A free show sponsored by LARCS.

Nature Buddies!

Mondays from 10:00-11:oo am for ages 6-12

The Reserve at Ranch Mission Viejo visits with interesting hands on displays, interpretive fun and educational talks. June 12th, 19th, 26nd and July 10th and 17th.

Intergenerational Book Discussion

Saturday, July 29th at 10:00 am.

Children ages 12 and older, parents and adults.

Please read Gene Luen Yang’s critically acclaimed "American Born Chinese" and attend the discussion. RSVP highly appreciated. Title copies available for checkout at the Ladera Ranch Library.

Summer crafts, snacks, and games! Free.

Tailored for all ages of children. Please RSVP in order that we may plan supplies.

The Bubbles, Balloons, Sidewalk Chalk and Crafts Party!

Monday, July 3rd 3:00-4:30 pm

Enjoy a friendly water balloon toss, sidewalk chalk drawing contests, patriotic crafts and good company. Free. Tailored for all ages of children. Please RSVP in order that we may plan supplies.

Happy Birthday Harry Potter Party!

Monday, July 31st 3:00-4;30 pm

Play Library Quidditch, get sorted into your Hogwarts school, wand making, try the Harry Potter quiz, create a magical creatures. Everyone is welcome to dress up. Free. Tailored for all ages of children. Please RSVP in order that we may plan supplies.

Jungle Party for Winning Readers!

Saturday, August 12th 11:00 am—1 pm

Animal games, crafts, snacks, and a jungle obstacle course. Children of all ages welcome. Free. Readers who complete ten hours of summer reading receive their outstanding reading diploma. Please RSVP.



Story Times

Baby Sweet Time

Select Tuesdays & 10:30 and 11:00 am

Baby Sweet Time, for children ages birth to 2 years of age. A special time for our youngest library patrons and an accompanying adult. Join us for twenty minutes of bouncing, singing and books, followed by a short time with toys. We meet in the downstairs Library. June 27th, July 11th, July 18th, July 25th, August 8th and August 15th.

Evening Storytimes with the All Star Readers

Tuesdays at 5:00 pm

Ladera Ranch’s talented teen volunteers read stories to children followed by a fun craft. A free program, best suited for children between the ages of 3-7. Tuesdays from June 20th through July 25th, excluding the July 4th.

Preschool Storytime with the All Star Readers

Wednesdays at 10:30am

Round up the little ones and head down to the Ladera Ranch Library for storytime. Visit our craft, legos and coloring tables too. Check out your weekly books. Fun and free, from June 21st through July 26th
